Everybody is feeling a little off these days, and this quick exercise can get you back on track. Use it for yourself, with your kids, as a way to wake-up or fall asleep, or as a journal prompt.
Consider these statements. If you’d like, start with three deep breaths.
- Remember something that worked well for you today, recently, or in the past.
- Express gratitude towards something or someone in your life.
- Think about something or someone that brings you great joy.
The most important part of this exercise is to stay with the thoughts long enough to feel the positive emotions that you are eliciting. You can go through the prompts more than once, choose to do several rounds of one of them, or challenge yourself to do this every day.
