Owl Message

My family recently moved from the East Coast to the Midwest. Hawks and eagles are plentiful here, thank you corn fields. So for every day bird of prey, there is supposed to be a night bird of prey, an owl. I knew I was bound to see an owl, it was just a matter of time and keeping an eye out.

I got up yesterday morning to feed my dogs and let them outside. There was a huge ‘owl’ on my neighbor’s house, so exciting! Except, as the day dawned, I realized it was their satellite dish, so disappointing.

Later in the afternoon I was out dusk, and I had my eyes peeled and my hopes high. This time I was not disappointed. There was my owl perched on an electrical wire! I stopped my car in the middle of the road, thank you middle of nowhere, and got a good look. It was a beautiful great horned owl. My daughter was in the car with me. She made me feel sane that it was in fact an owl and insane for stopping in the middle of the road. She did not share my joy, but I had enough for both of us!

May wisdom, good judgment, and knowledge be available and obvious to you now. May your sharp vision and keen observation heighten your insight and intuition. May you greet pending life events with optimism and curiosity.

    1. Seeing an owl in the wild is really special, I totally agree. I also enjoy supporting local wildlife rehabilitation centers where they often have owls in for rehab or education.

  1. Wow, that’s really a gem to see one. They’re enormous, aren’t they? When owls fly, they’re totally silent, too. It’s the way their feather are or something.

  2. Owls are so much fun. We have lots of owls. They hoot back and forth to each other in surround sound from the the different trees surrounding our property. It’s nice to lie in bed listening to the owls. In a couple months, we’ll start watching the nests as the owlets hatch, grow and start poking their heads up out of their nests.

      1. If you click on Owls on the menu on the top of my blog page, you can see lots of photos of owls. Scroll down a bit and you will see cute owlets.
