Mindfulness Mini – Grokking

What you think, you become. What you feel, you attract. What you imagine, you create.

Grokking was taught to me as a way to prepare yourself for your day, a difficult task, or an uncertain scenario. Grokking is a way to set your state of mind and to prepare yourself for an appropriate response to what lies ahead.

Grokking is a quick exercise that should only take about 30 seconds tops. Come to stillness while standing, eyes open or closed, imagine you are looking at a reflection of yourself. The reflection has everything that you need for the day or task. I may imagine for example that my reflection is having a great hair day, slept well, feels confident about the day, and will communicate brilliantly. Once all that you need is reflected in front of you, simply step forward into that space and breath in the good energy you envisioned. You should feel empowered and ready to start your day. Have a great one!

    1. Grok is one of my favorite words and I also use it often. It comes from a science fiction author Robert A. Heinlein, and a book, Stranger in a Strange land. : to understand profoundly and intuitively. FYI from Patty the Nerd.

      1. One of my mentors taught me this years ago, and in my notes, she references Stranger in a Strange Land too. She said that the Martians used it to understand the world and the people around them. Grokking involves communing on such a fundamental level that it transcends language and is felt more than described. I think you two would have really enjoyed each other! Thanks for connecting me to her energy today!!!
